A Surfer waits for the Next OneIthaka “The Pigeon Lady” (1995)

The California-born poet, Ithaka’s, melodic spoken-word track “The Pigeon Lady” appears in this scene from G-LAND PRO, a documentary revolving around a ASP world surfing tour event that was held in 1995. The film was created by Seth Elmer and Doug Silva. And stars world champion surfers Tom Carroll, Kelly Slater etc etc.
The album FLOWERS AND THE COLOR OF PAINT (produced by Pedro Passos and Joe Fossard) was considered by the respected Jornal Publico as one of the most important records of the 1990’s in its home territory of Portugal and was nominated for three Blitz Premios (The Portuguese Grammy) for;
Best New Artist,
Best Male Vocalist
and
Best Album
in its year of release, 1995.
Ithaka’s (aka Ithaka Darin Pappas) third album, “SOMEWHERE SOUTH OF SOMALIA”(2001) produced by Conley Abrams III appears #10 on amazon.com’s list of “BEST” rap records of all time. A song from this album was showcased in the 2007 hit X-Box 360 game NBA 2k7.
